ಕೊಡಗು,ಜೂನ್,5,2026 (www.justkannada.in): ಕೊಡಗು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಡಾನೆ ದಾಳಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಜೀವ ಬಲಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಐಜಿಪಿ ಅಣ್ಣಳಮಾಡ ಸುನಿಲ್ ಅಚ್ಚಯ್ಯ ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ (51) ಅವರು ಕಾಡಾನೆ ದಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿರುವ ದುರ್ಘಟನೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.
ತಿತಿಮತಿ ಸಮೀಪದ ಕೋಣನಕಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕಾಫಿ ತೋಟವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಇಂದು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಸುಮಾರು 9 ಗಂಟೆ ವೇಳೆ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ ಅವರು ತೆರಳಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಏಕಾಏಕಿ ಕಾಡಾನೆ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆಸಿದೆ. ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರು ಆನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಓಡಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಣಾಪಾಯದಿಂದ ಪಾರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಆದರೆ ಕಾಡಾನೆ ದಾಳಿಯಿಂದ ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಗೋಣಿಕೊಪ್ಪಲಿನ ಲೋಪಾಮುದ್ರಾ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಸಾಗಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುವ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಮಧ್ಯೆಯೇ ಅವರು ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಿದೆ.

BREAKING NEWS: Woman Killed in Wild Elephant Attack
A 51-year-old woman was killed in a wild elephant attack near Titimati in Karnataka’s Kodagu district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Sandhya (51), wife of Retired IGP Annalamada Sunil Achayya. The incident occurred at a coffee plantation in Konanakatte near Titimati, where she had gone for an inspection around 9 a.m.
According to reports, a wild elephant suddenly charged at the group. Two workers accompanying Sandhya managed to escape after spotting the elephant and ran to safety. However, Sandhya was attacked and sustained severe injuries.
She was immediately rushed to Lopamudra Hospital in Gonikoppal for treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Forest Department officials, including ACF Lakshmikanth and his team, rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.
The incident has triggered concern among local residents, who have urged authorities to take immediate measures to control the increasing menace of wild elephants in the region.
