ಕೊಯಮತ್ತೂರು, ಜೂನ್, 10,2026 (www.justkannada.in): ಹತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದ ಆರವ್ ಸುರೇಕಾ (ರಾಯೋ ರೇಸಿಂಗ್) ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ರೇಸಿಂಗ್ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಕೊಯಮತ್ತೂರಿನ ಕೋಸ್ಟ್ (CoASTT) ಕಾರ್ಟಿಂಗ್ ಸರ್ಕ್ಯೂಟ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಮೆಕೊ ಮೆರಿಟಸ್ ಕಪ್ ನ ‘ಮೈಕ್ರೋ ಮ್ಯಾಕ್ಸ್’ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್ ಆಗಿ ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮುಂಬೈನ ಈ ಬಾಲಕ ಕೇವಲ 2 ಅಂಕಗಳ ಅಲ್ಪ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಂತಿಮ ದಿನಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅಂತಿಮವಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಎರಡನೇ ಮತ್ತು ಐದನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು, ಒಟ್ಟು 78 ಅಂಕಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮುಡಿಗೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜಿದಾನ್ ಅನೀಸ್ (ಪೆರೆಗ್ರಿನ್ ರೇಸಿಂಗ್; 72 ಅಂಕಗಳು) ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಲ್ಹಾಪುರದ ಆಯಾನ್ಶ್ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ (ಎಮ್ಸ್ಪೋರ್ಟ್; 72 ಅಂಕಗಳು) ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಿಕ್ಕಿ ಆರವ್ ಈ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
ಇದಕ್ಕೂ ಮುನ್ನ ನಡೆದ ಸುತ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಗಳಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ವಿಜೇತರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ವಯೋಮಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶದ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ರೇಸರ್ಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಿದ್ದ ಆರವ್, ತಮ್ಮ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಯ್ದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಧೈರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಿದರು.
ದಿನದ ಆರಂಭವು ಆರವ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅವರು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜಿದಾನ್ ಅನೀಸ್ ಅವರಿಗಿಂತ ಕೇವಲ 0.019 ಸೆಕೆಂಡ್ಗಳಷ್ಟು ಹಿನ್ನಡೆ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಹತೆ ಪಡೆದರು. ಆದರೆ, ಕೋಸ್ಟ್ ಸರ್ಕ್ಯೂಟ್ ನ ಮೊದಲ ಕಾರ್ನರ್ ಇದ್ದ ರೀತಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಇದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಂತ್ರದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಕಠಿಣವಾದ ಸ್ಥಾನವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಂತೆ, ಮೊದಲ ರೇಸ್ ನ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲೇ ಆರವ್ ಮೂರನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಸಿದರು, ಚೆನ್ನೈನ ಯಶ್ವಿನ್ ಕಿಶೋರ್ (ಪೆರೆಗ್ರಿನ್ ರೇಸಿಂಗ್) ಅವರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಉಳಿದರು. ಆದರೂ ಧೃತಿಗೆಡದ ಜಮ್ನಾಬಾಯಿ ನರ್ಸಿ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಈ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ, ಉತ್ತಮ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ನಡೆಸಿ ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲೇ ತಮ್ಮ ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ಪಡೆದು ಕೊನೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಈ ರೇಸ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿದಾನ್ ಅನೀಸ್ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೊಲ್ಹಾಪುರದ ಆಯಾನ್ಶ್ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ತೃತೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದರು.
ಎರಡನೇ ರೇಸ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆರವ್ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನದಿಂದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ದುರದೃಷ್ಟವಶಾತ್, ಫಾರ್ಮೇಷನ್ ಲ್ಯಾಪ್ನಿಂದಲೇ ಅವರು ಇಂಜಿನ್ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ, ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಆರಂಭವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ಅವರು ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿದರು. ಇಂಜಿನ್ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ವೇಗ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅವರು ಉಳಿದ ಮೂವರು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ತೀವ್ರ ಪೈಪೋಟಿ ನಡೆಸಿದರು.

ರಾಯೋ ರೇಸಿಂಗ್ ತಂಡದ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿ ಕಿಯಾನ್ ಶಾ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಈ ವಾರಾಂತ್ಯವು ಮಿಶ್ರಫಲ ನೀಡಿತು. ಮೊದಲ ರೇಸ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪಘಾತಕ್ಕೀಡಾಗಿ ತೀರಾ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಿದ್ದ ಅವರು, ನಂತರ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಚೇತರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು 11ನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದರು. ಇನ್ನು ಎರಡನೇ ರೇಸ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಆರಂಭ ಪಡೆದ ಅವರು ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ರೇಸ್ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದರು. ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಿಯಾನ್, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅಕ್ಷತ್ ಮಿಶ್ರಾ ಅವರ ನಂತರ ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪೋಡಿಯಂ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮದಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.

Mumbai’s 10-year-old Aarav crowned Champion in Meritus Cup
Coimbatore, June 10: Ten-year-old Aarav Sureka (Rayo Racing) announced his arrival on the national racing stage, emerging as the champion in the Micro Max Category of the Meco Meritus Cup at the CoASTT Karting Circuit in Coimbatore late on Sunday.
The Mumbai lad entered the final day with a slender 2-point lead. He managed a second-place finish and a fifth to finish with 78 points to take the crown, well ahead of Zidaan Anees (Peregrine Racing; 72 points) and Ayansh Patil (MSport; also 72 points).
In the earlier rounds, he had taken the first place once and the second once to become the clear winner. Aarav was up against some of the country’s finest racers in this age group and showed great nerves to hold on to his lead.
The day started on a good note for Aarav, qualifying second behind Bengaluru’s Zidaan Anees by a mere 0.019 seconds. It could, however, have been a tricky position due to the nature of the first corner at CoASTT.
Not surprisingly, Aarav dropped to third at the very start of Race 1, behind Chennai’s Yeshwin Kishore (Peregrine Racing). Not to be deterred, the Jamnabai Narsee School student, put in a good effort and soon regained his second place and hung on to it till the end. Anees finished first and Kolhapur’s Ayansh Patil third.
Race 2 had Aarav starting fourth. Unfortunately for the Mumbaikar, he started facing engine issues right from the formation lap. Still, he got an excellent start and climbed to second place. In spite of his compromised speed, he bravely fought with three others for superiority.
The kart continued to get worse and Aarav could barely stay on to grab the fifth place. Anees won ahead of Kishore and Hyderabad’s Shriyan Rao T. His second and fifth place were enough to see him finish third in this Round, behind Anees and Kishore.
Kiaan Shah, also of Rayo Racing, had a mixed weekend. After suffering a collision in Race 1 and falling to the very back, he recovered well to finish 11th. In Race 2, he had a superb start and raced well to finish second. Kiaan thus bagged another podium with second, behind Bengaluru’s Akshat Misra.
